Making 3D things out of paper, really badly

We have been drawing man made objects of our choosing, hanging from the ceiling with string. If your curious as to how that turned out, the images are on a previous post. Anyway, being me and liking pretty things, I chose this devil of an object.

It looks like a pretty object, but it has so many shapes.
We had to make it out of paper from two drawings of the object. I was stood next to someone who made a measured, size perfect replica. I made this.

Dylan's( who made the perfect copy, I mean it balanced properly and everything) holding up the paper.
I was told I made it more painterly, I have to admit I had fun upping the scale and with a bit more time I could have made a really sturdy one. I ran out of time so I got the devil that broke every five minutes. I suppose this is a lesson that I should be more realistically ambitious with time.
Anyway we then had to draw that.
I had to draw a swinging lump of creased paper that broke between looks.

This was difficult, not in the least because the angles changed every time I looked away. I just kept on going and worked over the top.
These were the results:

I have to admit, not exactly chuffed with this result, but there you go. It fails to explore the form, because half the time I had no idea where I was on the image. I am also strongly of the opinion that it is excessively messy.
Apart from not fulfilling the brief on examining form very well, they could most definitely have been worse. I was battling with physics throughout, so the fact something ended up on paper can be counted the achievement of the day.
